To play live blackjack online, you open a casino’s live lobby, choose a table, place a bet before the betting time ends, then hit, stand, double or split on screen while a human dealer deals on a video stream. What changes is the table family: seats, shared hands, fees and doubling rules differ.

This is an explainer, not news. The rules below are what Evolution publishes, and they move only when Evolution changes them. This desk read Evolution’s live blackjack games page, its Infinite and Lightning Blackjack pages, and BetMGM’s Blackjack Live page on 15 October 2026. Evolution’s copy is undated, so every rule here is per Evolution, as read that day.

How to play live blackjack online, step by step

BetMGM’s page sets out the sequence for Evolution’s Blackjack Live, and it holds for most tables:

  1. Enter the live lobby and pick a table whose limits suit you.
  2. Take a free seat, or use Bet Behind if the seats are full.
  3. Bet before the timer closes. Everyone gets two cards; the dealer shows one.
  4. Make your decision on screen. The dealer completes the hand and bets settle.

The aim does not change: finish closer to 21 than the dealer without going over.

Infinite blackjack vs classic live blackjack

At a classic table you wait for one of seven seats or ride someone else’s hand. At Infinite there is no wait, but there is also no private hand: every player is dealt the same two cards, and the decisions split from there. Power Blackjack works the same way. Its shoe is eight decks with the 9s and 10s taken out and the picture cards left in, which Evolution puts at 64 fewer cards.

How does Lightning Blackjack work?

You pay twice for the opening bet: the stake and a fee equal to it. In exchange, a winning hand is guaranteed a multiplier, but it lands on the next round, not this one. Lightning Roulette, covered in our look at its multiplier cost, also prices its multipliers into the game rather than giving them away. Evolution’s pages read do not print a return figure for it, and this desk will not invent one.

What RTP does live blackjack pay?

The only figure this desk found printed is BetMGM’s 99.28 RTP for Evolution’s Blackjack Live, with BetMGM’s own note that RTP may differ from one jurisdiction to another. None of the three Evolution pages read prints an RTP for any family. BetMGM’s $5 minimum and $2,000 maximum are BetMGM’s table limits, not Evolution’s. For a rival studio’s table and its rule changes, see our review of Pragmatic Play’s Privé Lounge Blackjack.

Salon Privé, Evolution’s VIP room, adds a room manager and lets the player choose the dealer, shuffle and pace. First Person Blackjack is RNG, not live.

Questions readers ask

What is Bet Behind in live blackjack?

Bet Behind lets you back a seated player’s hand when every seat is taken. Evolution says most of its live blackjack tables are seven-seat games with the option to Bet Behind if all seats are already taken. BetMGM describes its Blackjack Live tables as seven seats plus unlimited Bet Behind spots. You follow that player’s hand rather than playing one of your own.

How many seats are at a live blackjack table?

Seven at Evolution’s classic tables, per its live blackjack page. Infinite Blackjack has unlimited seats, and Power Blackjack is described as another Infinite game. Evolution’s Lightning Blackjack page says an infinite number of players can play in the same round, and Free Bet Blackjack also comes in an Infinite version. Which tables you see depends on the casino’s lobby.

How does Lightning Blackjack work?

Per Evolution, a 100% Lightning Fee is added to each initial bet and shown in the game’s interface. A winning hand earns a random multiplier of 2x, 5x, 8x, 10x, 15x, 20x or 25x. It is saved for the next round and raises the payout only if you win that round. An unused multiplier stays available for up to 180 days.

Is live blackjack different from online blackjack?

Yes. Live blackjack is a human dealer dealing physical cards on a video stream, with the betting window and decisions handled on screen. RNG blackjack is software. Evolution’s own First Person Blackjack is a 3D animated RNG game with a choice of five hands per round, and a GO LIVE button that moves you to a live table.

18+. A published RTP is an average over a very large number of hands, not a forecast for one session. Set the budget in cash before the first deal, keep the stop-loss where you put it, and check the table is offered where you play.
