BetMGM streams Bellagio and MGM Grand tables into Alberta, dual play included

Twelve Playtech-delivered tables, five of them dual play — the online player and the person standing at the Bellagio wheel are in the same game. What the release prints, and the two regulatory claims in it that belong to BetMGM.

Five of BetMGM Casino Alberta’s twelve tables are not in a studio. They are on a casino floor, per the release, with somebody standing at them.

BetMGM said on 20 August that live dealer games streamed from Las Vegas are now available at BetMGM Casino Alberta, through MGM Resorts International’s live casino collaboration with Playtech. BetMGM was born of an MGM Resorts and Entain partnership, per the release; MGM Resorts operates Bellagio and MGM Grand, both on camera.

Twelve tables, split two ways

Seven read as dedicated tables: Vegas All Bets Blackjack Live, Vegas Live Blackjack 1 through 4, Vegas Roulette Live and Vegas Baccarat Live.

Five are dual play, and that five is the story: MGM Grand Live American Roulette, MGM Grand Live Roulette, MGM Grand Live Baccarat, Bellagio Live Roulette and Bellagio Live Baccarat. The release says these let Alberta players “join real games taking place on the casino floors” of the two resorts, with online and in-person players in the same game.

What a floor table changes

A dedicated table deals to the online betting window. A dual play table deals to the pit. Pacing stops being a product decision and becomes a floor one — the dealer’s rhythm, the physical wheel, the physical shoe, and however many people stand there. Rounds per hour are set by the room, not the software.

The release states none of that, and no RTP, house edge, table limit or stake range either. One table is named American Roulette; the other three are named neither American nor European, two zeros or one. On the two dual play wheels that is whatever the pit installed, not a software setting. If the edge is published, it is in the game’s rules panel, not the announcement.

Two claims that are BetMGM’s, not ours

The release calls Alberta “one of the few regulated iGaming markets in North America” reachable by live dealer streams from Las Vegas casinos, and credits a provincial framework permitting streams direct from Nevada. Both are the company’s wording, and the first is an absence claim about every other jurisdiction. Neither is sourced to a regulator document in the release, and Covers, reporting the same announcement, does not repeat the Nevada framing. Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis does keep a public register of gaming registrants; it records who is registered, not what may be streamed from where.

In August we called the province’s market opening an access change and not a product change. This is the qualification that note needed: a table on the Bellagio floor is a different product from a table in a studio, whatever the maths turns out to be. The maths is the part nobody put in the press release.

18+ and, per BetMGM’s small print, AB only: the stream reaches further than eligibility. Set the session budget and the stop-loss first: at a dual play table the clock belongs to somebody else, and that is not a figure of speech.
